Portal

This painting began with a print of the World Tree, a symbol connecting the heavens, the earth, and the underworld. As I began to paint over it, I found myself immersed in a flow state, a feeling of channeling inspiration from a higher source. The tree imagery faded as the canvas transformed into a depiction of the cosmos.

The sky and the earth emerged as distinct entities. A bloated, overgrown sun radiated an ominous heat against a backdrop of ice-capped mountains, a juxtaposition of extreme temperatures hinting at environmental imbalance. In the center of this cosmic scene, a portal materialized, suggesting a gateway to a higher plane of existence or consciousness.
